Job Description

At the Sylvan Learning of Oviedo, FL (Seminole County), we have an in-person opening for:

• Upper level math (Algebra I & II, Geometry, Pre-calculus and Calculus. Sometimes Stats) teachers to coach students in need of academic support after school and/or on weekends! This is needed for both Homework Help and SAT/ACT Test Preparation.

A glimpse of your typical day at Sylvan:

• Greets students and initiates instruction to personally engage with each
• Evaluates and records progress of each student
• Collaborates with directors so that we can ensure the highest level of success for each student
• Doing what you love: teaching, without all the take-home work or lesson prep
• Working with your students; generally, 1:1 or 3:1 ratio
• Giving students' the academic tools that will help them succeed in school and throughout their lives
• Collaborating with full-time staff to develop a plan to meet the needs of each student
• All curriculum provided

The center is open during the school year & extended summer hours. We are open

for instruction: Monday-Friday: 230pm-730pm & Saturday’s 930am-130pm. Closed Sunday’s.

Who Can Apply:

• Must be confident in upper level math fields from Algebra I through Calculus. We sometimes gets students interested in Stats but not often. Biology and Chemistry knowledge is a plus.
• Undergraduate degree (or close to it)
• Teaching experience/certification not required, but preferred
• Must be punctual and professional
• Retired teachers looking to stay involved in the education field
• A graduate student in the education or related field

Initial and ongoing training/support is provided to all of our teachers.

This position is in-person at our center in Oviedo, FL on Alexandria Blvd, right off of Alafaya (not a remote position). Please consider your commuting time if you live more than 10-15 miles away from the center before applying.
